G7 cannot force China buy fish fromJapan ! And will G7 be responsible when Chinese get sick eating fish from Radio Active Water?
And will G7 be responsible
No. These hypocritical bags of hot air want the money and none of the responsibility. They have three sets of rules, one set for America, one set for the other 6 and others who play ball with America, and another set for Russia, China, North Korea and pretty much anyone left.
The Group of Seven (G7) industrial powers called on Sunday for the “immediate repeal” of import curbs on Japanese food products, a reference to China’s restrictions after Japan began releasing wastewater from the Fukushima nuclear power plant.
the United States, Japan, Germany, Britain, France, Italy and Canada – expressed “concern”
They should lead by example by leading importing those seafoods from ocean with tainted water.

They should lead by example by leading importing those seafoods from ocean with tainted water.
That would lead to a ban on seafoods from China.
G7 calls for immediate repeal of bans on Japanese food, pressing China
Key word here is “calls” . They are saying publicly, as a body, what they want China to do.
This is how countries work.
China has the freedom to make a choice . China has the right to protect their people, if the rest of the world wants to eat contaminated fish so be it.
It’s china’s right to ban whatever food they want you oppressors
G7 cannot force China buy fish fromJapan !
True they can’t force them to buy any, and that is NOT what they demanded. Read the article again.
And will G7 be responsible when Chinese get sick eating fish from Radio Active Water?
Seems to me that the Chinese government should be compensating you for the effects of drinking the koolaid.
There have been enough scandals related to food produced in China to warrant a few bans as well, but now they’re supposedly concerned about people’s health.
It’s china’s right to ban whatever food they want you oppressors
it absolutely is their right of oppression of Chinese by not allowing them to buy any seafood from Japan, safe or otherwise.
Since when has Communist China, in their entire history, EVER been concerned about the health and welfare of their citizens? The leaders despise them.
Pot meet kettle. See the US weaponizing high end computer chips.
“We deplore actions to weaponize economic dependencies”
What we put into our bodies is a personal choice. Why so pushy?

Pot meet kettle. See the US weaponizing high end computer chips.
“We deplore actions to weaponize economic dependencies”
Nope. Computer chips are used in militrat wepons and can pose a securty threat. When’s the last time Seafood was ever used in military weapons?
When’s the last time Seafood was ever used in military weapons?
That would be the 1971 Trout Slapping incident in Teddington Lock, Great Britain.
“Well, the G7 representatives they did need to say something to repay Japan government for the Osaka holiday junket so lets focus on the “oh” so important fish exports.”
“Unlike the G7 finance ministers’ meeting two weeks ago, which condemned “terror attacks” on Israel by Hamas, the trade ministers did not mention the Middle East crisis, “- Meanwhile these hypocrites condemn Russia for as much as a fart on each occasion but thousands of children killed and millions being deprived of life necessities by Israel in Gaza are not worth mentioning. Shame.
as explained by Putin, G7 is a joke.
So everyone knows the water is tainted. How do they know that? Their tiny little brains told them. They don’t know a thing about the water. They just assume it’s bad. I find it impossible to believe that Japan, or any industrialized nation, would knowingly release such water as people think is bad. It makes no sense that they would.
Most people in Japan would rather not it the seafood as well.
Talk to WTO or shut up, G7 has no rights to force Chinese people to eat hazardous materials contaminated seafood. I suspect this is a conspiracy to poison Chinese people’s health !
@elephant
I spend a lot of time in China for work and the water is literally undrinkable, even if you can manage the foul taste, you will likely become sick.
I get food poisoning nearly every trip, no wonder Covid started from the unsanitary markets there.
All this is to say, the Chinese government has no care about the safety of their citizens when it comes to sanitary food. Chinese fishermen are literally selling Chinese people seafood from the same water. The ban is 100% political.
Most people in Japan would rather not it the seafood as well.
You are not in Japan are you?
The government of China is a geo political hooligan, a parasitical leach to Japan fishing industry sector, they buy/import, as Japan fishing industry’s prospers, becomes dependent, so does the government of China pollical leverage increase.
Japan exported live fish, seaford, crustaceans, molluscs, aquatics invertebrates etc 2022 was close to $545.26M….. Trading economics.
To then pull the rug from underneath, that is quite a hit to Japan fishing/seafood sector.
The government of Japan, has been highly critical of Xi Jinping governments ever growing threats belligerence to Taiwan, the constant military incursions into Taiwan economic zone.
The threats to vital global shipping lanes, South/East China Sea.
The continued development of fortified sand castles…
China refusal to follow any recognized fair trading practices.
The ministers reaffirmed their concerns on “a wide and evolving range of non-market policies” that include “pervasive, opaque and trade-distortive industrial subsidies” and forced technology transfer.
“We deplore actions to weaponize economic dependencies and commit to build on free, fair, and mutually beneficial economic and trade relationships,” said the 10-page statement.
The G7 can sense the underlining global backlash to Xi Jinping government from regional neighbors. So Xi Jinping attempt to weaponize its imports from Japan fishing industries. To divide and create political disruption, to destabilize through financial hardship to J fishing sector.
The Chinese government has little or no concern for/to the basic human rights to its own people.
So this fakery, this self righteous, how dare you very much reaction to Japan releasing waste water under the independent eagle eye of International Atomic Energy Agency should be given the short shrift dismal it deserves.
CCP are already tainting and poisoning foods all over mainland CCP and making their own people sick! Fake, poisoned foods in many parts of mainland CCP. Never buy anything “made in China”. Eat them at your own risk.
CCP are only good in creating unnecessary nuisance and trouble WHEREVER CCP go! They are only good in politicizing and pushing blames at everyone except themselves! Hypocrites!
Nobody cares about the G7, China has every right to protect its people from radioactive, Japanese seafood.
Since when did CCP start to care about innocent, good Chinese people in mainland China? ZERO! NONE ! CCP are only good in covering up truths, distorting facts, creating new lies, pushing blames to others, making bloody, idiotic nuisances EVERYWHERE they go ! STOP creating trouble, CCP! Shitty!

what you describe fits the Japanese gov and its past War crimes. stop to focus on China.
japanese fishermen got subvention from Kishida ripping off the taxpayers and are freezing the fish for later sale. Japanese fishermen are fraudsters!
I guarantee you, that you will eat 1-2-year-old frozen fish later in your sushi.
As a sovereign country, China buys what it wants. end of the story.
Every country has their own free choice to do what they think it best for their country and citizens. The G7 coerce countries to do or not do things does not work. They should just be talking directly to the countries and negotiate with them. That is how civilized negotiations take place. If the countries choose not to, again it is their free choice.
Good move by the G7. The IAEA has confirmed that the Fukushima operation conforms to safety standards, and that the initial releases have been conducted with no problems. Everyone knows that China and Russia’s bans are purely political, and nothing to do with food safety.
Concerted action to guard against China’s economic coercion (Russia is less of a concern) is what’s needed. If other countries stick together to support each other, China’s leverage will disappear, and it will either have to 1) act responsibly and play by the rules 2) isolate itself even further. I’m guessing that 2) will be the case. Either way, China loses.

as explained by Putin
So what? No-one should take advice from a war criminal.

I suspect this is a conspiracy to poison Chinese people’s health !
China is doing a far better job of that than any other country on the planet:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Food_safety_incidents_in_China
G7 can do that but thats all.
btw no news abt guys “sprayed” by radioactive water there?
i mean hospitalized guys…since all of were told that everything is SAFE i see no reason why they even rushed with them to hsopital?but yes I am sure that “urging” G7 “did note hear” about this case at alll?

btw no news abt guys “sprayed” by radioactive water there?
Maybe they’re fine and there’s nothing to report? Maybe they’re still being assessed? I don’t know, but it would’ve been in the news had it been serious/fatal.
i mean hospitalized guys…since all of were told that everything is SAFE i see no reason why they even rushed with them to hsopital?
They were sprayed by pre-treated water. The water that is being released is treated, and safe. There’s a big difference.
G7 cannot force China buy fish fromJapan !
They are not forcing anything, but China is. China is forcing its citizens not to buy fish from Japan. Aren’t you concerned about that? Especially given the low standards of locally produced alternatives in China?
Japan can sell her fishery products to INDIA, why not? India is a good ally of Japan, right ? Why sell those radioactive water contaminated fish to Chinese? We want ZERO PERCENT radioactivity food. We just don’t want some country attempting to poison us in a slow motion process, this is mass murdering !
We just don’t want some country attempting to poison us in a slow motion process
When and where will you move, comrade?
@OA And China prohibits the export of rare earth elements on national security grounds. It works both ways. Trump and the US started all of this.
We want ZERO PERCENT radioactivity food
Poor thing. You must be starving.
In a capitalist market people can choose what they buy.
China is open to trade, be it hamburgers or cars etc
China can buy fish from other countries the same way thatJapanese can refuse to buy cheap Chinese tat for 100 yen a pop!
deanzaZZRToday 10:54 am JST
Trump and the US started all of this.
No. China has been playing this game for a very long time, and China very much started it. The rare earth ban to Japan was in 2010, long before Trump came to power. It was nothing to do with the US:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rare_earths_trade_dispute
China was accused of unofficially banning of rare earths exports to Japan during a diplomatic standoff between the two countries after the 2010 Senkaku boat collision incident, though China denies such reports. Critics pointed at this incident to argue that China was not above using its dominance in rare earths production to gain leverage in international negotiations.
And China prohibits the export of rare earth elements on national security grounds.
I’m glad they’re now admitting their ban is politically motivated. In 2010, they claimed it was for environmental reasons, which was a total lie: just like they’re lying in this case.
Come on the G7. Don’t talk with your hand over one eye. IE, don’t be such hypocrite. The sea food ban, any difference from all the tech ban????? They are just responding.
Fresh video, couldnt have come at a better time
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJO4jOkF64I
Since when the G7 became so weak?
You could start by importing these Japanese seafood. Declare tax incentives for Japanese seafood, certainly the G7 could afford all these seafood?
OKuniyoshiToday 11:34 am JST
The sea food ban, any difference from all the tech ban????? They are just responding.
If China is responding — and the seafood ban is indeed political (as we all know it is) — then China should say so, and not lie about it being for “food safety” reasons.
We’re seeing the folly of the world allowing China to control the supply chain of so many critical resources.
And the folly of moving manufacturing to China to pay dividends to stockholders who trade the livelihoods of people within their society for money.
The J-Gov could further subsidize Fishing here in Japan and reduce the cost of local catches being sold to the general public. The only people who will loose out (imho), will be the Mainland Chinese – but that’s fine – they’re happy following what they’ve been told by their own Government, and will undoubtably enjoy the many Fish from within their Borders, so why would they be bothered at all at missing Fish / Seafood from Japan ?
I am generally not a fan of western powers lecturing other countries, hypocritically ordering them to follow rules they themselves do not follow.
However, it is preferable if Japan and China have a productive, mutually beneficial relationship based on trade and economic cooperation. Just as I have said that China isn’t going anywhere and we have to learn to work with them, Japan is also not going anywhere, and China needs to learn how to work with Japan.
G7 can start with lifting bans they imposed meantime
If China is responding — and the seafood ban is indeed political (as we all know it is) — then China should say so, and not lie about it being for “food safety” reasons.
They cannot do that. The WTO treaties they subjected themselves to don’t allow trade barriers except for health, environmental, or security reasons.

Hey INDIGO, the despicable, low-life, lying, gangster-like CCP are doing EXACTLY the same despicable acts today! The WHOLE world is looking at CCP with disdain and suspicion ! Look at what CCP did to innocent Chinese people in Ukraine, the recent disastrous & terrible flooding in China CAUSED by CCP and many more incidents, etc. The CCP DON’T give a DAMN about their own people! Millions of innocent Chinese people in mainland have had suffered terrible fates under horrible CCP’s rules over and over again ! CCP are only good in one thing: cover up, distort facts, create lies, always blaming others and Never blaming themselves (CCP), etc.

Good point. Hence the lies we get every time they pull something like this.
It’s all very well for the G7 hierarchy to “ask, advise, or urge” China to lift its ban on Japanese seafood imports, but what they really should be doing, and with a strong sense of urgency, is to get the facts out there loud-and-clear about the massive Pollution being discharged into all of China’s coastline of the waste-water from their nuclear-plants by China.
And then go on to stress the fact that China is responsible for over 35% of all global Pollution, from their thousands of coal-fired power-stations, and other filthy industrial activities. They alone are the world’s largest polluters, creating global-warming / climate-change without a care in the world for anyone.
deanzaZZRToday  10:54 am JST
@OA And China prohibits the export of rare earth elements on national security grounds. It works both ways. Trump and the US started all of this.
China started weaponizing trade by stopping exports of rare earth metals to Japan over the Sekaku Islands dispute in 2010. Trump wasn’t in office until 2016.
The other G7 members should buy more !
Action speaks louder than mere snoring!
