The world needs to ban China
Once the point has been made and the world doesn’t cave in, the ban will be quietly lifted.
China playing hypocritical political games as usual.

Who cares. Black market fishing boats abundant soon in Korean and Japanese waters. Can not just cut off for the Chinese elite who want the following and will pay huge some of cash to obtain the following.
Northern bluefin (honmaguro), southern bluefin (minamimaguro), bigeye (mebachimaguro), yellowfin (kihadamaguro) and albacore (binnagamaguro)

More amazing quality Japanese seafood for friendly, rational nations to enjoy. Japan will have zero problem finding new customers over the next decade or 2 that China enforces the illogical ban.

Purely political, as said by many people on here and elsewhere, for weeks.
Yet again, China demonstrates why decoupling from it is the best course of action. Its dangerous, unelected, authoritarian government simply cannot be trusted. They will use economic coercion such as this (along with other more unsavory things like hostage diplomacy) to advance their agenda.
Time for the world to move on from failing China, to India, SE Asia and elsewhere.
Maybe china should stop pointing other countries for what they do.

Let’s recall samples of the headlines which appeared recently: “What to know about China’s real estate crisis” (NYT); “China’s 40 years old boom is over” (WSJ); “Global mood sours on China’s economy” (Foreign Policy). And etc. The current issue of Japan’s release of radio active water is a perfect scapegoat for diverting attention from domestic problems. Of course, China never, ever says that radio active water, with higher concentration than that of Fukushima, has been released from its own nuclear power plants.

Given the choice between eating fish caught off the coast of Fukushima or food fried in oil fished directly out of the sewer that you are likely to find in many restaurants in China, I’d take the former every time.

I don’t know what The Global Times editorial staff has been smoking or eating but the least of their worries fears are going to be alleviated by banning all Japanese seafood imports.

That will hopefully lower the price in Japan. China will get it’s seafood from elsewhere.

Yet they’re still sending illegal fishing fish to Japanese waters. Appear “protective” of the people while exploiting minority groups.
First and foremost the blanket ban is purely politically motived propaganda exercise.
Its sole purpose is to bring belligerent division to the region from a government of China that is directly responsible for a global pandemic that claimed the lives of 6,955,497.
Remember that.
Chinese power plants released in one year more tritium containing water from their power plants than what is being released gradually over 10 years by the Fukushima plant. All this outrage and grandstanding is nothing but manufactured outrage to further anti-Japan hysteria.
So ban all Chinese food imports, there are plenty of better quality in other nearby countries.
I prefer Malaysia, Indonesia even Vietnam.
Keep the Japanese produce here and rely less on imports!
I am less worried about the Fukushima water than the malachite green that is illegally used in Chinese aquaculture and found regularly to be present in chinese exported fish products. (Malachite green is used in aquarium to control fungus infections in fish but highly toxic if the fish is used for consumption)
Or the banned herbicides and pesticides used on much of the imported fruit and vegetables arriving from China.
Anyway with the yen being low avoiding importing and relying on local produce is a better idea.

Totally backwards thinking and selfishness from a country that builds something only to admire it and when they smile it falls because its crap!! The world has caught on no one wants it!
Meanwhile, you could fill up 6 dumps trucks full of Chinese trash for every 100M of beachfront on Tohoku’s Sea of Japan coast.

Why should Japanese fishermen and fishing companies suffer due to this political decision by China? That would be unfair.
The Japanese government should make sure reasonable prices are maintained – through finding new markets and/or ensuring domestic prices don’t drop such that fishermen will suffer.
China complaining about any type of pollution is hilarious. If this was in China, they simply wouldn’t have told anyone they were dumping it. In fact, they’d probably have denied there was ever a nuclear accident in the first place.
And their dodgy fishing fleets will still trawl the waters and sell it to their public.
I endorse China’s decision to ban all seafood imports from Japan.
All countries must follow China’s lead regarding this matter.

Chinese food is actually very nice
I sincerely hope that the Government of China Japanese seafood imports blanket ban, provides a respite for Japanese hard pressed families cost of living hardships, allowing a more domestics seafood forced diet at affordable prices.
We should ban everything from China – except the yummy stuff.
I am quite certain that China has performed worse as far as introducing pollutants into our environment radioactive or otherwise. With Fukushima, the methodology used is scientifically based, and we’re only talking about tritium not things like cesium or polonium since these isotopes are removed, using conventional means such as mechanical filtering and ion exchange resin. The Chinese communist party, on the other hand when faced with the same issue, probably would forgo any other isotope removal and just discharge the water. This is the stark reality and of course they’re not going to publicize any of it. The Chinese communist party does what they please with no regard for even their own population.
Does China know that the Pacific Ocean flows into all of the other oceans, one of the closest being the China Sea? They will have to give up seafood across the board…if it’s actually related to health.
I believe Japan is creating powerful enemies.

The People’s Republic of China uses it as a club against Japan. Politics vs. science, the CCP will do anything to bash Japan.
China should buy as many safe seafoods from Fukushima and sell them back to Japan at higher prices.

The Democratic Party of Korea adopted the platform of banning all seafood import from Japan as election campaign pledge.
So once the Democratic Party takes back the office of presidency after winning the landslide election next spring and impeaching Yoon, Korea will be the second country to have banned all seafood imports from Japan.
I hope China will stop fishing in Japan’s EEZ and near Japan waters too!!!

Actually why would the fishermen get less?
The cost of processing for export, export packing, labeling in Chinese, shipping, etc…
Would mean a massive savings, and the local fish products could be processed here and sold here cheaper and no price difference for the fishermen!
The losers would be the exporters or Chinese importers and middle men that are more likely Chinese and the Chinese processing factories in China.
So the Japanese public could easily benefit from lower prices at no loss to the fishermen.

I have had a bad experience in Japan with seafood (food poisoning). Never had a bad experience yet, with Chinese food.
Do you live in China?
How often have you eaten in China compared to Japan?
Look up “recalled” foods around the world and the top of the list is always China.
My friend’s father in Australia was seriously ill they couldn’t figure out what it was or how he got it until a recall of Chinese mushrooms was announced, yep he ate them in a local Chinese restaurant and they were contaminated with a very serious bacteria and subject to a nation wide recall in Australia.
Canada again recalled tonnes of Chinese fish products because again malachite green a highly toxic substance illegally used to control fungus chinese aquaculture was present in the fish.
We eat fish five or six times a week. Very careful with shell food. But no health problems over 30 years. I am very careful with all food and preparations.
China bans Japanese seafood, but you can still buy Chinese farmed shrimp, raised beneath the chicken coops so the farmer can use the chicken droppings as feed for the shrimp.
Its simple for Japan to counter act.
Just show to China “International Atomic Energy Agency” Watchdog approval to discharge Fukushima Water after Technical Cleaning to UNDER MINIMUM acceptable levels!
China, before saying something of great importance, should be able to prove or check! Or China intentions is to blame any Japan act?
Geez China…instead of crucify Japan of a result of a calamity (earthquake)…try to help. No help? Just sanctions? Ok…Japan understand the message and knows what You want!
