Norway, the world’s biggest producer of farmed salmon, has already topped the value of seafood exported for the whole of 2022 as a result of a weak currency and strong demand for the pink-fleshed fish.
Total exports for this year are now expected to exceed 170 billion kroner ($15.7 billion), after last year’s level of 151.4 billion was breached on Nov. 13, the Norwegian Seafood Council said in a statement on Tuesday. The weakening of the currency accounts for about two-thirds of the increase, it said.
